The base kimono was created by Kimberley Jane Fashions in the UK and was later embellished with a sequin pattern by LJ and Okusama. The kimono symbolises LJ as a bridge between Japan and the UK, and his interest in cultural exchange. This Kimono has been all around the UK and was worn by LJ when he appeared on The Karaoke Battle on Toyko TV
LJ's "Resting Robe" between sets. Sometimes this also makes an appearance on stage. This deep blue / purple sequined piece was hand make by LJ and Okusama. It is adorned with the symbol of the butterfly in honour of LJ's beloved daughter.
At one show a small child shouted out; "Cookie Monster!" when she saw the kimono.
This was purchased from the Japanese Shop in Harrogate. It is a stylish blue colour with a pattern like the ripples on a pond. The red obi in this picture was a gift from LJ's friend Sumie San
One of LJ's favourite kimonos, this basic green kimono was purchased form the Japanese Shop in Harrogate. It has lots of material to cover LJ's fat belly!
The base kimono was purchased in Kyoto and was later embellished by LJ and Okusama with over 3000 individual rhinestones, placed by hand over a period of 6 months. This kimono has been work by LJ at shows in UK, Canada, Greece, Spain, and Amsterdam.
Created especially for a show at Japan Matsuri, London in 2024 this kimono is covered on gold sequins and tassels. LJ performed Matsuken Samba with the Naomi Suzuki Dancers.
