 L J English is a talented singer born in the UK with a love for Japanese music, specializing in covers of Showa Kayoukyoku songs from the 1950s to the 1980s. 


"Showa Kayoukyoku" means "Popular songs from the Showa Era (1926 to 1989)


L J tours the globe at festivals, stage shows and TV appearances, and performs at charity events. He is actively seeking opportunities for collaborations and future performances, eager to share his passion for Japanese music.

 L J English is a versatile and passionate singer with a deep love for Japanese music. He has become known for his powerful and emotive performances of Showa era songs, capturing the spirit and essence of these beloved music genres.


In recent years, L J  has gained a loyal following with his unique style and interpretation, and has toured across the UK and Europe, captivating audiences with his performances.


When L J isn't singing, he devotes his time to learning the Japanese language and exploring the culture. He is an active member of the Japan Society Northwest and Japan Society London, where he engages with and learns more about Japanese culture.


L J's love of Japanese music extends beyond his performances, as he seeks to use his talent to inspire and connect with others. He often performs at charity events, using his music to give back to the community and make a positive impact.


L J began learning Japanese in 2019 as a personal challenge.  Ever since then the language and the music have become a whole new way of life for him, with new discoveries every day and new things to learn and appreciate.  "At my age, it is nice to still find exciting and fulfilling opportunities waiting around every corner" says L J.


He is determined to continue developing his skills and sharing his love of Japanese music with the world.
